Chris joined Ilkley Swimming Club in 2013, and during the past few years has qualified as a level 2 Swimming Coach and lifeguard. As a youngster Chris swam for City of Leeds and on occasion has been known to swim for Ilkley Masters.
Peter joined us in September 2015. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience having been a coach of City of Leeds for many years.
Karen is a Level 2 Swimming Teacher and Coach, and qualified lifeguard. Karen steps in to assist on rare occasions as she prefers to be in the water and swimming with Masters. A long time ago Karen swam for Team GB, and rekindled her love for the water when she reached 45 years old with Ilkley Masters.
Andy is our Waterpolo Coach. He was a junior swimmer at City of Leeds (formerly Leeds Central SC) and Pudsey SC until he took up waterpolo in his early teens playing for Bradford, Pudsey, Leeds and Dewsbury clubs in local, regional and National competition (NWPL Divs 1,2 & 3) until retiring from National level in his mid 30’s. Andy has also represented Yorkshire and NE Countyteams both as a junior and then senior player. Andy joined us in September 2012 when we first started a waterpolo section of the club. Andy is a Level 2 Swim England waterpolo coach who has coached junior and Senior teams at City of Leeds WPC both at local level and in the British Water Polo League
After many years of watching her daughter swim with the Club, Kathy decided to go on poolside and gained her level 1 qualification in 2016. Kathy is also a qualified ASA Timekeeper, Chair of Ilkley Swimming Club, and Swim21 Co-ordinator.
Ellen is a qualified lifeguard and level 1 coach.She has been an active member of Ilkley Swimming Club since joining in 2012 taking on various roles such as volunteer, team captain, coach and lifeguard.Ellen has been a competitive swimmer since the age of 9 and has qualified for finals in multiple events at the North East Regional Championships and Yorkshire Swimming Championships.During university holidays, Ellen returns to Ilkley to continue her roles on poolside.
With her son and daughter both waterpolo addicts and a growing waterpolo squad Marieke thought she might as well join Andy poolside and is really enjoying getting involved in coaching and learning more about the sport.
Julie is a qualified level 1 coach and often volunteers as an experienced competitive swimming judge and timekeeper at local and regional competitions.She uses these skills to advise swimmers at Ilkley on the legitimacy of their strokes, turns and starts. Julie has been a committee member since 2012 and is currently the gala coordinator.
Adam is a qualified Level 1 water polo coach. Adam learned to play water polo with ISC, then joining Leeds Sharks to play for the Under 18s. Adam continued to play waterpolo at University, playing in the first team for Swansea University throughout his time in Swansea. Now he’s back from University he is playing waterpolo again with the Leeds Sharks adult team and enjoying passing on his experience to new players.
