We run a structured swimming programme over four evenings a week and our members are spilt into squads.
C Squad - Tuesday and Thursday 6.00-6.45pm
Most swimmers in this group will have completed swimming lessons. Emphasis will be on technique, but endurance and sprint work through “sets” will be introduced.

This squad trains three times a week and is for swimmers with a higher level of skill. Technique and drills will still be evident, sessions will include more endurance and sprint work.

A Squad (Under 18) - Monday 8:00-9:00pm & Tuesday and Thursday 7:45-9:00pm
This squad trains three times a week. The majority of the swimmers in this squad are swimming to keep fit or to support their development in other sport, although we encourage them to carry on and compete at local swimming galas. Drill work and technique is included but the majority of the sessions will be biased towards endurance and sprint work.

The seniors (18-24 years) and Masters (age 18 – no limit), swim up to three times a week. We have Masters who compete both regionally and nationally and several that regularly compete outdoors. We encourage our Masters swimmers to complete the local Yorkshire Masters Meet held at John Charles in Leeds and the ASA T30 event - how far you can swim in 30 minutes. Some of our Master swimmers are also members of “Friends of Ilkley Lido” and swim in outdoor pool session both summer and winter (www.ilkleylido.co.uk).

Waterpolo - Wednesday 8:00-9:00pm
At Ilkley we only have pool time and space to allow us to have U14 and U16 Teams. These combine with the U14 and U16 teams from Leeds Sharks under the team name Leeds Olicana and play in the Wakefield League. The U14 and U16 teams are mixed, boys and girls. Once a player is 17 they are invited to attend the waterpolo training sessions for the U18 Leeds Sharks team which are single sex. These sessions are based at The Edge in Headingley.
